API Designer/Developer

We are looking for an API Designer/Developer, contract or full-time, ideally based in London or Dublin, to help us take Open Hedge to the next level, building and expanding our APIs and services and working with our partners to launch new markets, add capabilities and solve their customers’ jobs to be done.

Open Hedge is an API that powers third party apps, widgets, gadgets, social sharing, and mobile applications. It is an open distribution channel that enables our partners to provide currency services to their clients who need it most, but are often excluded or overlooked by the traditional providers. With Open Hedge, Assure Hedge provides innovative embedded banking services through our partners, from Cloud Accounting Providers and B2C/B2B Marketplaces to Banking Software Platforms and Fintech Marketplaces.

• Architect and design engineering projects
• Research and identify solutions to resolve problems related to our API products
• Work closely with the development team in Portugal and the API product manager, based in London
• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems

• At least seven years of professional software development experience
• Either a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field involving coding (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
• To have technically lead projects involving multiple engineering teams
• Experience in building and maintaining APIs and the underlaying systems
• Detailed technical knowledge of modern APIs and communication protocols
• Worked in a variety of different platforms, in both high-level and low-level languages, and ideally have done front-end work
• Demonstratable experience in writing clean API specification contracts using OpenAPI (Swagger) with an API-first approach
• To have built API for financial organizations
• Proficiency in gathering and analysing information
• To have technically lead projects involving multiple engineering teams
• Full fluency in English, both written and spoken, is an absolute requirement of this role as all communication is through English
